Sessions:
Session 1 | Enrollment and Goal-Setting: This initial session focuses on building relationships and establishing the foundation for the coaching cycle. The coach learns about the school leader, their school context, their team and students, and their goals. Together, the coach and participant identify a clear coaching focus and determine where to begin.
Session 2 | Virtual Observation and Artifact Review: Session 2 focuses on collecting and reviewing evidence of current practice. The school leader submits an artifact or recording aligned to the coaching goal for the coach to review. The coach uses the evidence to identify strengths, areas for growth, and potential action steps. This review informs the coaching approach and prepares the coach for an intentional feedback conversation.
Session 3 | Feedback and Action Planning: Session 3 centers on a coaching conversation grounded in evidence from the artifact review. Together, the coach and school leader reflect on current practice, identify a high-leverage action step, and plan for implementation. The coach may model, practice, provide resources, or offer targeted feedback to support the participant in applying the action step. In this session, the person being coached showcases their progress by submitting artifacts related to the action steps. The coach reviews these to gauge development, then finalizes the coaching strategy. This review ensures that each coaching conversation is purposeful and targeted.
Session 4 | Virtual Observation and Artifact Review: This session provides an opportunity to apply learning and demonstrate progress. The school leader submits a second artifact showing implementation of the identified action step. The coach reviews the evidence to assess progress, identify strengths and remaining areas for growth, and prepare for the next coaching conversation.
Session 5 | Feedback and Refinement: Session 5 focuses on feedback, reflection, and refinement. Using evidence from the second artifact, the coach and school leader discuss progress and determine how to strengthen or extend the participant’s practice. Together, they refine the action step, practice as needed, and identify the next area of focus.
Session 6 | Virtual Observation and Final Artifact Review: This session provides the school leader an opportunity to demonstrate growth through a final artifact. The participant submits evidence of practice connected to the coaching goal and previous action steps. The coach reviews evidence across the cycle to identify progress, patterns of growth, and opportunities for continued development. This review informs the final reflection conversation.
Session 7 | Reflection and Next Steps: The final session closes the coaching cycle with reflection and a final coaching conversation. The coach and school leader review progress toward the original goal, celebrate growth, and identify practices to sustain or continue developing. The cycle concludes with clear next steps and a brief participant survey to capture feedback and learning from the coaching experience.
